We are here to help look after your horse. The ambulatory team, of thirteen widely experienced equine vets, provide a comprehensive range of services to our registered first opinion clients whose horses are stabled within the catchment area of the practice.
Your horse will benefit from the immense depth of knowledge and experience of all members of the practice in both regular formal and ad hoc informal case discussions so that all cases can benefit from a "several heads are better than one" policy.
Case continuity is considered of paramount importance and all reasonable efforts will be made for clients to see the vet of their choice. We aim to build up a relationship with each animal having a nominated vet who gets to know the individual and their owner. We always endeavour to send the vet of your choice to you but in an emergency the nearest available member of the team will attend. We cover all out of hours problems 365 days a year - the telephone will be answered by a practice member and also the duty vet is always a member of the practice – we do not use any deputising services.
The Hospital facilities and laboratory are available for our clients and referred cases. Registered, regular clients of our first opinion practice can qualify for our bonus scheme, they then recieve a discount from inpatient fees should their horse ever need hospitalisation. Members of this team are also available to travel throughout the country, or abroad, to perform vettings or to give second opinions to referred clients, other veterinary surgeons or insurance companies.
We consider dental care an important part of our preventive care and all our veterinary surgeons have extra post-graduate training and expertise in both normal and abnormal dentistry.
We recommend the teeth are checked atleast once a year- it is often convenient and appropriate to combine this with the annual vaccinations to protect against equine influenza and tetanus. (To find out the latest on flu vaccination then cllick here)
During the winter months we run an Annual Health Scheme, the "MOT" includes a physical exam, dental check, blood sample, faecal worm egg count and discounted vaccinations. The most appropriate advice can then be given regarding health, management and worming programmes.
