It is the responsibility the owner to notify the insurance company that their horse is undergoing treatment, and ensure the validity of any subsequent claim. As the requirements of the various companies differ please ensure that you keep your insurance company up to date and that you comply with their requirements. This is of particular importance if non-emergency general anaesthesia is to take place. We can also provide, when requested, a "pro-forma" to the insurance company to indicate the likely costs of treatment in such cases, where the investigations or treatment is "pre-planned".
We believe that every horse should be treated equally, and horses, ponies and donkeys without insurance cover always recieve our equally high standards of care and attention- our advice regarding treatment is also unbiased. However there are instances where the costs of treatment can accumulate rapidly, and unfortunately, these costs can prohibit treatment in some instances. Insurances policies can help contribute towards the costs of investigation or treatments and we do recommend owners consider taking out insurance cover whenever possible.
